En réponse au déséquilibre de la vie culturelle sur le territoire français et à l’appel de l’association des Maires ruraux de France (lettre ouverte « J’existe »), Winter Story in the Wild Jungle crée des projets artistiques dans des communes éloignées, situées entre 60 à 90 km des grandes villes. Au contact du tissu associatif, éducatif et culturel local, le collectif fait émerger des projets où le dialogue avec les habitants et leur participation devient le moteur de la manifestation. Cet échange entre la compagnie et les infrastructures territoriales génère l’intervention de 80 artistes par an, il crée les conditions matérielles de leurs résidences de création en territoires. Elles donnent lieu aux restitutions publiques « donner à voir, donner envie » qui ont parfois réuni jusqu’à 850 personnes toutes générations confondues. Afin de s’adapter à la densité irrégulière de territoires étendus, ces résidences prennent aussi des formes itinérantes pour rejoindre plus facilement les dynamiques déjà initiées dans les différentes localités. La compagnie aborde ainsi le territoire comme une géographie vivante, son action artistique stimule l’envie d’un partage d’expérience et en imagine les conditions.
In response to the imbalance of cultural life on the French territory and to the call of the Association of Rural Mayors of France (the "I exist" open letter), Winter Story in the Wild Jungle creates artistic projects in remote communities, located between 60 and 90 km from major cities. In contact with the local associative, educational, and cultural fabric, the collective creates projects where dialogue with the inhabitants and their participation becomes the driving force of the event. This exchange between the company and the territorial infrastructures generates the intervention of 80 artists per year, it creates the material conditions for their creation residencies in the territories. They give rise to public restitutions called "Give Something to See, Give Something to Desire" that have sometimes brought together up to 850 people of all generations. In order to adapt to the irregular density of extended territories, these residencies also take itinerant forms to get easier access to the dynamics already initiated in the different localities. In this way, the company approaches the territory as a living geography, its artistic action stimulates the desire to share experiences and imagines the conditions for doing so.
